Social Event

Unforgettable Evening at the Grenier de Saint Jean

Monday 29, 19:30 - 23:30

Our Social event will take place at the Grenier de Saint Jean (also known as Saint Johns Hospital in English), a Gothic building founded in the 12 century right at the hearth of Angers and that through the ages served this community as a church, a monastery, a hospital, an orphanage and finally a center of modern art. The original building is composed by “The Great Hall for the Sick”, a remarkable landmark in French gothic architecture, the chapel, lodging areas and the cloister, latter other facilities were added trough the times: kitchens, dormitories, and an apoticary that is still partially possibly to visit today.

In 1986 this magnificent Gothic structure was restored and since this date it houses the Jean-Lurçat contemporary museum, housing several artistic pieces between paintings, drawings, ceramics, lithographs and the famous “Chant du Monde” wall-hangings by the artist that name the museum.

Dinner will be brightened by the presence of the "Buskers" Group, who are a Parisian jazz group. The musicians have grown up together since their teenage years, cultivating their common passion for popular music. A vast collection of music that has become their playground and that they still explore, from Robert Johnson to Ray Charles, the Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are all part of their repertoire.
You will be inspired and delighted by their music, and you can have a little sneak peek of their talent here.

All these elements combined and set in this wonderful location promise to make this a remarkable soirée.

How to reach the Grenier de Saint Jean using the TRAM network.
